Speakers will include William R. Thomas, CIA, CISA, CFE (Managing
Director, Protiviti), Dr. Robert McMurrian (Head of University of Tampa
Center for Ethics) and Christine Wolf (President of Assurance Business
Technology).
Bill Thomas
is the Managing Director for Protivitis Tampa, Florida office. He is the current
chair of the Center for Ethics Advisory Board at the University of Tampa.
Bills professional experience includes more than 12 years internal audit and
fraud examination in the financial services industry, and more than eight years in public
accounting and consulting. His primary areas of focus include corporate governance,
business risk management and internal audit plan development and he meets regularly with
Boards of Directors and senior executives on these matters. He is a member of
Protivitis Sarbanes-Oxley corporate governance task force and is a frequent speaker
on corporate governance topics.
Protiviti is an independent consulting company providing advisory services to senior
executives and boards on matters related to business risk.
Dr. Robert McMurrian is an Assistant
Professor of Marketing and the Director of the Center for Ethics at the University of
Tampa.
Dr. McMurrian earned his BS and MBA degrees from Louisiana Tech University and his
Ph.D. from Louisiana State University. He specializes in personal selling, sales
management, organizational behavior, business ethics and customer value. His Professional
and Community Activities include the American Marketing Association, Academy of Marketing
Science, Society for Marketing Advances, Sales and Marketing Executives of Tampa Bay, Beta
Gamma Sigma honor society, and is a Certified Instructor - Dale Carnegie Courses. He was
awarded the College of Business Teaching Excellence Award for 2000-2001.
Christine Wolf has been in the technology industry for over twenty
years. She is currently the President of Assurance Business Technology providing the tools
and services to help companies with their corporate policy compliance needs.
Previously she served as a regional sales development manager for a nationwide ISP
managing their regional technical sales efforts across the southeast and as their Internet
Sales Engineer for Tampa Bay. In these capacities she has been coach and mentor to sales
individuals helping them develop effective sales programs. Prior to these positions she
managed a team of network engineers supporting nationwide network installations. She has
an Associates degree in Computer Technology, B.A. degree in Business Management/Marketing,
and currently in progress: MS degree in Technology and Innovation Management, University
of Tampa.
Topics will include a survey or Business Ethics in todays
business and an update on Sarbanes-Oxley. Workshops by industry group/and topic will be
conducted during the afternoon with subject matter experts from the Center and
facilitators from the IIA membership.
