President's Message

February 13, 2006

Chapter Members,

Our first in a series of new monthly meeting was a great success and exceeded our highest expectations.  We had over 50 attendees including 9 USF students.  The presentation by Grant Thornton on SAS 70 was well received; we had breakfast and were all on our way to work or school by 9:00am.  So let’s do it again!

Our second in our series of new monthly meetings is less than two weeks away.  Please mark your calendar for Thursday February 16th for our meeting at the Quorum. You get 1 hour of CPE for only $10, have breakfast and network with your fellow Chapter colleagues.

We again have an excellent program for our second monthly meeting with Protiviti addressing Where Companies Stand Today on Sarbanes-Oxley. As companies transition from Year One with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance to Year Two and beyond, it is time to reflect on the objectives and costs of the process. Senior Management needs to take a fresh look at how to take this compliance activity to another level. The answer is to transition "Project to Process" with the intent to add value to SOX compliance while improving sustainability.

Protiviti’s sponsorship will keep your cost to $10 and we will upgrade the breakfast this month. Please sign up and show support for your chapter and monthly sponsor. See you there! The deadline to register is TODAY, February 13, 2006!!

Also, later this month Time Magazine’s former “Person of the Year” and WorldCom’s former CAE Cynthia Cooper will headline a great program on February 28th at the Hyatt in downtown Tampa. We expect record attendance for our Fraud Seminar “Truth or Consequences” so register on the website NOW!

Warmest Regards,

Gary Jordan, CIA
2005-2006 Chapter President
