August 2005
President's Message
August 1, 2005
Congratulations! Our chapter has achieved the Platinum status for the 3rd
straight year. This means your chapter has received the highest chapter
recognition level available and reflects the professionalism and commitment
of our members.
Platinum is a very unique level of achievement. Less than 10% of all
Chapters have this designation. This means our Chapter activities are
providing an excellent local environment for our professional growth and
networking. Lets all work to make it happen again. Please plan on being very
active with your chapter during the upcoming year.
This should prove to be one of the most active years EVER for our
Chapter.
New for this year will be monthly meetings with many of them coordinated
with other local financial professional organizations to facilitate our
networking and continuing professional education.
Our schedule for the four annual seminars will be out shortly. Watch your
in-box!!! Some of our seminars will feature speakers of national prominence
and will also be joint sponsored by other organizations to help us afford
the additional cost.
Your new chapter’s officers are in position and at work this summer as we
plan for the 2005-2006 year. Tammy Griffin, Jim Parker, and Joanne Clark and
I all attended the IIA's 2 day annual leadership conference in order to
learn more about our responsibilities this year.
I am extremely grateful to have been elected President of our Chapter.
With over 500 members and ranking as the 32nd largest chapter of the 250 in
the world, it is no small task. I am also fortunate to have a strong group
of leaders to work with in serving our chapter.
See you soon!

We Need YOUR Help With the Chapter
Archives
Did you know that your West Coast Florida Chapter maintains an archives
of photos and documents that represents our decades of service to the
internal auditors of Tampa Bay? In fact, Susan Glickman is
spearheading an effort to review the items in the archives and “clean up”
old and unnecessary items. Can you help? Contact Susan
(susan.l.glickman@us.pwc.com)
directly and she will explain the process and let you know the next time
that the group is gathering to review the documentation. You could even earn
CPD credit for participation on this vital committee.
Platinum Status, Again!
As you may know, the IIA measures Chapter Achievement Program (CAP)
points throughout the year. A chapter earns CAP points for programs,
communication and services provided to its members. At the close of a
chapter year in May, a chapter is designated Bronze, Silver, Gold or
Platinum, based on the level of CAP points achieved. For the 2004-2005
chapter year that ended in May 2005, your West Coast Florida Chapter
achieved the highest designation possible – Platinum status, which signifies
reaching Gold status for 10 consecutive years. In fact, this marks the third
year of Platinum status for your chapter. Congratulations to all the chapter
leadership and its members for this notable distinction!
Report your Speaking and Writing
It's time again for the survey to determine which IIA Tampa Bay
Chapter members have submitted articles or spoken in since May 1. Each
speaking engagement on internal auditing that a Tampa Bay Chapter member
completes will earn the Chapter 1 credit per CPD hour. Each full
article, Roundtable article, Fraud Finding, etc. submitted that meets
basic editorial guidelines will earn 5 credits. For each full article
published 20 credits are earned. Each internal audit related article
published in any other trade or professional journal that is authored
by a chapter member is 5 credits.
To report your writing and speaking go to
http://tampabayiia.org/Speaking.htm and complete the provided form
by August 15, 2005.
